David Shea + Craftwife

(check her she's amazing!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUGKfC0SYck)

Throughout the 1970s, Kraftwerk quietly went about reshaping the possibilities of technology and electronic music. Now three decades on, a young Japanese artist inspired by that great German electro-institution, is quietly going about the same process of reshaping technology.

Using self build software, Craftwife combines an iphone, projectors and a rather fetching LED tie to create a live performance like no other. Her sound is an echo of Kraut Rock - a hint of Germanic rhythm filtered through a distinctly Japanese aesthetic. The iphone controls all her sound and lighting - even her LED tie plays in time with the music! Craftwife is truly unique and one for the Otaku (japanese for 'obsession') audience. She is utterly cho-kawaii. She is joined by American master of the cut-up David Shea.
Rafael Anton Irisarri - http://www.myspace.com/rafaelantonirisarri

20 August - Lismore - Diffuse, Southern Cross University

Seattle based artist Rafael Anton Irisarri (aka The Sight Below) has been exploring textural electronics for almost half a decade. His recorded output, captures an essential vision of floating tones, deep pulsing bass and textured Gaussian curves. His use of repeated phrases, taps into minimalist ideals, whilst his use of atmospheric layers of reverb suggests a more cinematic quality. In all his work is deeply emotive and epic to the point of being symphonic.

Irisarri is traveling to Australia for the first time to celebrate the release of his latest solo LP The North Bend, an album that tips its hat to the rugged terrain of the American Pacific Northwest. Hinting at connections to David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and contributing new forms to the traditions of neoclassical, spectral sound and ambient sublimity - Rafael Anton Irisarri arrives to transport and transfix those that come across his sounds.
