A Note from Oskar…

“Let’s imagine ourselves sitting in a comfortable position,
gazing into the distance through a window.
The perspective is limited, yet still in proportion between the interior and exterior of the room.
A rather ordinary moment.
Unless we switch off all processes of evaluating the situation.
And now you stand up and slowly approach the window.
The entire landscape framed by it enlarges and fills your field of vision.
More details from outside emerge.
The room disappears.
Then you head back.
You reverse this brief scene from a moment ago.
You sit back comfortably at the beginning. “

The described situation literally represents the moment when I subconsciously understood the hidden formal concept of the compositions that make up this album. This took place in
Copenhagen in 2024 during my master studies on Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium. During the period, I had the opportunity to work with the acoustics of the abandoned Vridsløselille Prison building, where I conducted spatial impulse measurements. In the creative process, I tried to recreate the character of the unique reverberation resonating in the main hall of the building called the “panopticon”. We are therefore able to experience this place to a similar degree throughout the entire album. It was an exceptionally haunting experience, being alone in this place and listening to re-amplified fragments of the compositions being created at the time.

My stay in Stockholm in November 2024, contributed to the shaping of the final form of all four compositions, where as part of internships I had the opportunity to work at the legendary Elektronmusikstudion (EMS).
Daily contact with raw nature and listening to the incessant wind
penetrating the streets and suburbs around Stockholm heightened my senses. The unique character of the EMS space allowed me to listen deeply into the compositions and touch the depths of sonic details. I thank everyone I had the opportunity to meet over the past two years
related to my stay in Scandinavia.

The North has definitely sunk its teeth into my work, which is presented on this album. I would especially like to thank amazing Icelandic voice artist Björg Catherine Blöndal for lending her mesmerising voice to the opening composition of the album.
